About Me

When starting an essay, many students have no idea that the university essay is significantly different from the school version. If at school an essay is often understood as a simple statement of a topic on 1-2 pages, then in the university certain requirements are imposed on this type of works. First of all, they concern the structure of the essay and its formatting.

Especially difficult in the design of the essay can cause such elements: the title page, the text of the essay, the list of references, references.

To properly design the text of the essay, you need to maintain a three-part structure: write the introduction, the main part and the conclusion. The parts themselves are not highlighted in writing as it is done in an essay or term paper, but must be logically sustained. The introduction should present the main, the main part should present arguments to prove the thesis, and the conclusion should draw conclusions.

The list of references should be present in the essay in case references to sources are used in the text: magazines, newspapers, articles, etc. Usually, teachers emphasize that the presence of references and a list of literature in the essay is obligatory.

The essay is written on one side of an A4 sheet of paper.

The parameters of the text are usually specified in the methodology books of the university. If they are not available, it is recommended to choose 12 or 14 font size, set the Times New Roman type, set one-and-a-half line spacing, align the text to the width.

For the page it is necessary to set the following parameters of the margins: the right margin - 1 cm, other margins - 2 cm.

The essay uses continuous numbering with numbers at the top or bottom of the page in the or on the right. The title page is not numbered, but is included in the numbering (number 2 is placed on the next page after it).

The title page is the first page of the essay and is designed on a separate page.

The text of the essay is written without putting the introduction and conclusion on separate pages. Also, you should not write the titles "Introduction" and "Conclusion". The text itself should be divided into separate paragraphs.

The reference list follows the text of the essay and is designed on a separate page.

As you can see, there are many subtleties you need to know when designing an essay. However, if you have previously written essays or term papers, you may notice a significant similarity in the design of all student papers.
